“I Love God.”

On the way home from school, I’ve started asking my daughter and her cousin (who we pickup and drop off from school too) what they learned that day. So far, we’ve gotten small things about maps and math.

But on the way home today, the pair wanted a quiz, and the conversation led to a precious moment.

As we neared home, I asked my daughter, “What is the gospel?”

“Death, burial, and resurrection!” she said eagerly. We’ve been talking about it the past few days.

“Of who?” I asked.

“Jesus!” she said.

My niece had interjected with “The Holy Spirit,” so I asked her who the three person of the Holy Trinity were.

“God,” she said.

“God the…” I encouraged.

“God the Father!” she said, taking the hint.

“Who else?”

“The Holy Spirit!” she said.

“Who else?”

We finally got the answer: “Jesus!”

If these girls have been getting quizzed about math sums and maps all day, I thought, why not ask them some questions about God and the gospel.

Later this afternoon, as I sat talking to my friend, my daughter came up and handed a card to me. This is what it said.

I believe that the conversations we’re having are having an effect, even if I can’t see it right away.

Today, God was good enough to let me see it.
